Mission Focus: Lead a team of cross-functional IT engineers to provide a full range of expertise and experience required to continually monitor the IT market space and analyze evolving DTRA mission requirements to identify and recommend IT solutions to challenges associated with day-to-day service delivery and mission performance. The team analyzes new requirements, assesses the feasibility and business rationale for new projects, and then prototypes and tests new IT services before release for production.

Clearance: TS/SCI clearance required

Location/Flexibility: Ft. Belvoir, VA

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the design, planning and prototyping of cloud, systems, and network projects ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support the DTRA IT Department’s goals in collaboration with DTRA System Engineering and IT Operations.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets, tracking progress and communicating status updates to all stakeholders.
  • Coordinate resources, including team of 10-20 including third-party contractors, and vendors, to ensure successful project execution.
  • Manage project risks and issues, identifying potential roadblocks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards, including security and data protection regulations.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, providing leadership and guidance to team members to achieve project goals.
  • Work closely with Government Chief Engineer and senior and IT managers.

Qualifications: 

  • Education: BA in relevant IT field or equivalent experience
  • Certifications: PMP (preferred)
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI
  • Strong understanding of IT networking technologies, cloud computing and software development best practices
  • Proficiency in systems administration, network infrastructure, and IT security principles within a Department of Defense environment (specific experience at DTRA helpful)
  • Working knowledge of network and systems engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols
  • Ability to assess, interpret and apply government and industry standards, specifications and handbooks to the unique requirements of tasking. 
  • Proven track record of initiating, assessing, designing, and testing new capabilities for large DoD IT networks.

  • Coordinate resources, including team members, third-party contractors, and vendors, to ensure successful project execution.

  • Must be able to lift up to 10-15 pounds at times.
